Western Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Finish Fourth at Trudnowski Open

HELENA, Mont.– The Bulldog men's and women's track and field programs both placed fourth at the Trudnowski Open in Helena, Mont., Saturday. The day was highlighted by four event wins on the men's side.

"It was a good day overall for us," head coach Taylor Grove said. "We had a lot of season and personal bests as well as some event wins which was great to see at this point in the season. Excited to get back to work the next couple weeks to get ready for conference."

On the track, Brody Henry earned the win in the men's 800m with a 1:59.98. Tristan Von Bargen (seventh, 2:08.93) and Bridger Wheeler (10th, 2:15.14) also competed in the event.

Tyler Raine finished first in both the 110H (15.51) and the 400H (57.82).

Stanley Stremick topped the podium in the men's long jump with a 6.36m leap. He also finished third in the men's high jump with a 1.78m personal best.

Luke Crossley placed fourth in the men's 10,000m with a personal and school record time of 32.28.92.

Justene Santi landed on the podium in the women's 400m hurdles with a 1:16.16.

Jocelyn Seefried clocked a 14.15 in the women's 100m, placing fourth.

Kylee Wyatt posted a 7:00.08 in the women's 1500m, finishing 14th.

Tristan Von Bargen was the top Bulldog finisher in the men's 1500m, placing 15th with a 4:33.14. Cael Thilmony (16th, 4:36.33), Michael Reistroffer (17th, 4:40.92), Noah Rovente (19th, 4:49.12), Kreg Butler (20th, 4:58.56), and Mason Lynch (21st, 5:06.74) rounded out the Western finishers in the event.

The men's 4x400m relay team (Reistroffer, Henry, Von Bargen, Wheeler) placed third with a time of 3:44.77.

In the field events, Layne Cooney finished fifth in the men's discus (44.76m) while Justin Maier placed 12th (34.72m) and Tad Tackes 13th (29.75m)

Cassie Green earned a sixth-place finish in the women's shot put, registering an 11:00m personal best. Kendalyn Streck was close behind in seventh (10.94m), followed by Braden Kopp (12th, 9.70m), and Ellie Stutsman (13th, 9.66m).

Cooney set the school record in the men's javelin with a 37.99m toss, finishing seventh.

Cooney also placed seventh in the men's shot put, tossing a 13.16m effort. Justin Maier finished eighth with a 12.20m personal best.

Kopp was the top UMW finisher in the women's discus, placing eighth with a 33.25m PR effort. Streck (13^th, 28.91m personal best), Stutsman (15th, 26.04m), Sarah Clark (16th, 25.63m), and Brielle Davis (18th, 24.30m) also competed in the event.

Davis took ninth in the women's javelin with a 31.42m effort. Clark earned a season-best 30.91m to place 10th.

Western travels to Missoula, Mont., next weekend for the Montana Open (4/25), the final meet before the Frontier Outdoor Championships.
