Bulldog Men’s and Women’s T&F Take Seventh at Montana Open

MISSOULA, Mont. – The Montana Western men's and women's track and field teams both placed seventh at the Montana Open Saturday.

We had a pretty good performance overall with a lot of PRs and consistent performances again," head coach Taylor Grove said. "It's great to see our athletes either staying consistent or making some small improvements this week. I think it will give them a lot of confidence headed into conference."

The Bulldogs registered two program records, four podium finishes, and 10 personal bests on the day.

On the track, Olivia Heiner won the women's 5000m, clocking a 19:17.66.

Justene Santi bested her own program and personal records in the women's 3000m steeplechase, finishing second with a 12:16.11.

Brody Henry took second in the men's 800m with a personal best 1:55.05. Tristan Von Bargen ran to a PR 2:08.36 to finish 15th while Bridger Wheeler placed 16th with a 2:15.31 in the same event.

Tyler Raine clocked a 15.64 in the men's 110H, finishing third. He also placed fourth in the men's 400H with a personal best 57.29.

Haley Hodge earned a personal and program record in the women's 400m, running to a 1:05.36 eighth-place finish.

In the men's 5000m, Cael Thilmony placed 11th with a personal best 16:50.34. Noah Rovente finished 12th (17:25.20, personal best), Kreg Butler took 13th (18:16.73, season best), and Mason Lynch placed 14th (18:18.55, personal best).

Kylee Wyatt posted a 7:12.67 in the women's 1500m, finishing 14th. Michael Reistroffer clocked a 5:58.26 in the men's 1500m, also placing 14th.

In women's javelin Friday Brielle Davis tossed a 30.83m to place 12th while Sarah Clark registered a 29.92m effort, finishing 14th.

In Saturday's field events, Stanley Stremick finished fourth in the men's long jump with a 6.84m leap. He also finished eighth in the men's triple jump with a 12.77.

Cassie Green posted a personal best 32.72m in the women's discus, placing 13th. Braden Kopp (31.62m, 15th), Kendalyn Streck (29.13m PR, 17th), Ellie Stutsman (25.41m, 19th), and Clark (25.19m, 20th) rounded out the Bulldogs competing in the event.

Layne Cooney tossed a 43.75m in the men's discus, placing eighth while Justin Maier earned a 34.98m mark, finishing 16th.

Streck placed 10th in the women's shot put with a 10.79m toss. Cassie Green (9.76m) and Ellie Stutsman (9.51m) took 18th and 19th, respectively.

Cooney placed 12th in the men's shot put, posting a 13.05m. Maier finished 14th with a 11.85m toss.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Bulldogs now turn their attention to the Frontier Conference Outdoor Championships, taking place May 2-3 in Dickinson, N.D.
