Helena, Mont. – The Bulldogs had another strong showing at the Trudnowski Open Friday afternoon, winning two events and hitting a national qualifying standard.
Mindy Kaufman crushed the women's 5000 meters winning by over 30 seconds with a converted time of 17:38 setting a personal best in the process.
Eireann O'Connor easily won the 1500 meters winning by 13 seconds with a time 5:05.97. She followed that with a solid run the in the 800 meters.
Emma Adams set a personal best in the 5000 meters, running with a 19:24.
"It was a tough day for running fast but our women ran really well," head coach Dylan Zitzer said. "Emma and Mindy had great races. Eireann ran a controlled 1500m for the win. We are really excited to see how much better we can do in our last week of meets."
In the men's races Russell Kujala finished the 1500 meters in 4:25.18 and Josh Jessop ran a 2:03.32 800 meter race.
Tanner Lehr ran a 16:30 5000 meters and moments later anchored the men in the 4x400 meter relay.
Matt Wilson (16:42) and Jacob Rice (16:56) also ran the 5000 meters.
The Bulldogs will have two more chances to reach the qualifying standard as close out the regular season with two meets next week. They will run at the University of Providence Open in Great Falls, Mont. and the Tom Gage Classic in Bozeman, Mont. on May 2 and 3.
