Montana Western Volleyball Hosts Dickinson State and Bismarck State

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western volleyball team (4-6, 2-1 FC) welcomes Dickinson State (7-1, 3-0 FC) and Bismarck State (2-5, 0-3 FC) to Straugh Gymnasium this weekend for its first two home matches of the 2025 campaign.

 LAST TIME OUT 
The Bulldogs fell to Montana Tech 3-0 (20-25, 14-25, 20-25) Wednesday evening in Butte. Jordan Olson led in kills (seven) while Jaiden Perez topped the team in hitting percentage (.333). Megan Hardman and Sophie Worden shared the team-lead in assists with 12 apiece. Taylor Ketchum recorded a team-high 11 digs, followed by Hardman with 10. Kennedy Lingenfelter earned a team-best 3.0 blocks. Worden, Savana Warburton, and Morgyn Harrison all landed one ace.
 
 BULLDOG BEAT 
Montana Western has tallied 386 kills, 365 assists, 522 digs, 74.0 blocks, and 55 aces service aces on the year. The team's best tally in kills (60), hitting percentage (.243), assists (59), service aces (13), came in its five-set victory over Arizona Christian (8/30). UMW earned season highs in digs (83) and blocks (13.0) in its 3-1 win at Valley City State (9/5).
 
Jordan Olson ranks first on the team in kills (92), kills per set (2.71) and total attacks (242). Kennedy Lingenfelter (69) and Dani Brown (51) sit second and third in kill, respectively. Brown paces the team in hitting percentage (.273) followed by Lingenfelter (.249). Taylor Petersen runs the court with 116 assists (4.83 assists/set) with Megan Hardman in second at 106 (4.24 assists/set). Taylor Ketchum has earned a team-best eight service aces.
 
Defensively, Ketchum has registered a team-high 110 assists, followed by Madisyn Frazier (82). Frazier leads the Bulldogs in digs per set (3.42). Jaiden Perez has tallied 36.0 blocks to lead the team, with Olson (33.0) and Lingenfelter (32.0) sitting second and third.
 
 WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY 
Three Bulldogs are ranked in the top 10 in the Frontier Conference in blocks per set. Jaiden Perez sits fifth at 1.09 while Jordan Olson and Kennedy Lingenfelter are tied for seventh with 0.97 blocks per set.
 
 ACCESS DENIED 
UMW ranks fourth in the league and tied for 23rd nationally in blocks per set with 2.18 (74.0 total blocks
 
 THE OPPONENTS 
Dickinson State (7-1, 3-0 FC)
  • Went 3-0 to start league play, including wins over #3 Bellevue (3-2) and #24 Dakota State (3-2), and Bismarck State (3-0).
  • Dickinson State sits second in the Frontier in service aces per set (1.78) and fourth in assists (11.75 per set).
  • The Blue Hawks are also ranked fifth in the league in kills, (12.91 per set), hitting percentage (.203), and blocks (2.17 per set).
  • The team is tied for 25th nationally in blocks per set.
  • Aubrey Allison leads the team in kills (103) and kills per set (3.22), and ranks fifth in the conference in kills per set.
  • Rylee Kogolshak paces the team in total assists (323) and assists per set (10.0) and is second in the league in assists per set.
  • Carmen Pallone tops the team in hitting percentage (.301), blocks (31.0) and blocks per set (0.97).
  • Pallone (14), Taylor Fisher (13), Kogolshak (12) all have reached double-figures in service aces. Pallone ranks fifth in the Frontier in aces per set (0.44).
  • Ashtynn Egan has team bests in digs (98) and digs per set (3.06).
 
Bismarck State (2-5, 0-3 FC)
  • Opened league play 0-3, with losses against Dickinson State (0-3), Bellevue (0-3), and Dakota State (1-3).
  • Chelsa Krom leads the Mystics and is second in the FC in hitting percentage (.389).
  • Piper Harris paces the team in digs (129) and digs per set (5.16) while sitting fourth in the league in digs per set.
  • Reese Duchsherer has team-bests in kills (63) and kills per set (2.52).
  • Kate Zimmer leads in assists (141), assists per set (5.64), and service aces (seven).
  • Summer Thomas has earned a team-high 14.0 blocks (0.56 b/s), followed by Krom with 12.0 (0.48)
 
 SERIES HISTORY 
The Bulldogs are 22-8 all-time against Dickinson State, including 3-0 at home. The last meeting between the two squads was last season and saw Western take the 3-2 victory (10/12/24).
 
This will be the first-ever meeting between UMW and Bismarck State.
 
 LOOKING AHEAD 
Following the weekend, the Bulldogs head out for four straight road tilts. Up first, they travel to Dakota State (9/19) and Bellevue (9/20).
