The purpose of the University of Montana Western Athletics Hall of Fame is to honor, pay tribute, and perpetuate the memory of those who, through participation, support, or interest have made outstanding contributions to Montana Western Athletics and who have helped bring recognition, honor, distinction, and excellence to the University of Montana Western.

Outlined below are the inclusion criteria for nominees in the four possible categories –
    Student-Athlete
    Team
    Coach
    Meritorious Service

Student-Athlete

1. Nominee participated in athletics at Montana Western for a minimum of two years.
2. Nominee completed their athletic career at Montana Western.
3. A minimum of 10 years has past since the conclusion of the nominee’s participation at Montana Western.
4. Nominee’s athletic accomplishments, as a Bulldog, meet the minimum requirements:
   1. Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Track & Field, Cross Country - two-time, first-team Frontier Conference all-conference selection; or a combination of a second-team selection plus a first-team selection combined with an All-American.
   2. Rodeo - two-time regional champion or a regional championship combined with a top-five placing at the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) or multiple year top-five placing at the CNFR.
   3. Wrestling – two-time national championship top eight finish

1. The nominated team demonstrated exceptional accomplishments at and above the conference level which may include:
   1. Championships
   2. Record breaking performances
   3. Special recognition and/or significant impact
2. A minimum of 10 years has past since conclusion of the team’s season of competition.

1. Nominee made a significant impact and/or brought special recognition to Bulldog Athletics.
2. Nominee was recognized for success at or above the conference level.
3. No wait period is mandated following the nominee’s coaching tenure.

1. Nominee has made a significant impact on Bulldog Athletics, contributing to the success or advancement of one or more programs.
2. Service tenure demonstrates a long-term commitment.

1. Committee members are appointed to serve based on their knowledge of Bulldog Athletics with the intent of representing all sports and providing historical context.
2. Nominations may be submitted to the committee using the Hall of Fame Nomination form or presented by members of the committee.
   1. Nominees will be evaluated using the inclusion criteria, only qualified candidates will be considered for a vote of inclusion.
3. Qualified nominees must receive a majority of affirmative votes for inclusion from the Hall of Fame Committee to be inducted.
   1. While the recognition of athletic achievement and contributions is the focus of the Montana Western Athletics Hall of Fame, the committee is mindful that the character and citizenship displayed by nominees during participation and in post-graduate years is a reflection on the Hall of Fame, Bulldog Athletics, and the University of Montana Western. As such, committee members will consider the personal characteristics of qualified nominees during the vote of inclusion.
4. Inductees will be notified a minimum of one-year in advance of their scheduled induction ceremony.
   1. Inductees are not required to be in attendance at the ceremony to be included in the Montana Western Athletics Hall of Fame.
   2. Inductees may request a deferral of one year if their schedule does not permit attendance at the next scheduled induction ceremony.
