Walker capped his four-year WMC wrestling career as wrestle-coach during the 1978-79 season. He tallied a 20-5 record and won two matches at the NAIA wrestling championships in Wheeling, West Virginia that year. During the 1974-75 wrestling season, Ron and his teammates won the Frontier Conference team championship in Billings, defeating the long-time defending champs of Eastern Montana College. Walker, named to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities in 1978, learned some important lessons as a Western athlete: “...even when times get tough, you just continue and things will work themselves out. Life must be fun and you should approach your life with that philosophy.” Ron and his wife, Michael Ann, and son, Dameon, make their home in Anaconda.
