Ben Harrison, a native of  Deer Lodge, Mont.,  is a 1951 graduate of Western Montana College with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in general science and minors in English, mathematics and physical education. 

He was a four year basketball letterman, earning all-conference honors after his senior season. During his four-year hoop career, the Bulldogs won two conference titles and were runner-ups once. Harrison also lettered two years for the Bulldog baseball team.

After graduation, Harrison enlisted in the army and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a captain after 22 months of service. Harrison re-entered the world of education in his hometown of Deer Lodge as a science teacher. He later served as a principal at two schools in Deer Lodge.

During his classroom days, he found time to earn a Masters of Education from the University of Montana. He moved to Clinton, Mont. in 1976 and served as the Clinton Superintendent of Schools for the next 18 years.

He retired in 1994 and spent his time with family. Harrison and his wife Bette had three sons which produced six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He passed away on Oct. 25, 2015.
