A 1991 graduate of Western earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education. He received his Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Montana in 2001. During his Bulldog career under Hall of Fame Coach Casey Keltz, John scored over 1200 points, over 1500 counting games against Junior Colleges. John started in 110 straight games from 1986-1991. He earned All-Conference and All-District honors. During his career, the Bulldogs won two regular season Frontier Conference titles, one tournament title and one District title. In the 1988-89 season, Western advanced to the national NAIA Division I tournament, where they upset the nation’s number one team in the opening round in his senior season, John averaged 17 points and seven rebounds per game. His teammates included, Kevin Engellant, Jeff Elliot, Roger Fuchs, Brendon McMahon and Keith Chambers along with Hall of Famers Mark Durham and Cary Finberg. For the past ten years, he has been teaching Computers and Science and coaching basketball at Ennis High School. He is the father of Mikayla age 8 and Conner, age 6. John’s father Jim was inducted in the Western Hall of Fame in 1988 making them the only Father-Son combination to be inducted.
