Cindy Farmer, a native of Superior, Mont., is a 1985 graduate of Western Montana College with a Bachelor of Science in secondary education with a double major of business and physical education.

Farmer was a two time first team all-conference selection and a three-time academic all-conference selection. She led the Bulldogs in scoring her junior (15.9 ppg) and senior seasons (15.4 ppg). In 1985, Farmer was fourth in the nation in free throw percentage (85 percent).

Farmer also managed to fit in a stint as sports editor of the Wescolite, the campus newspaper. She was active in intramurals as well.

Her teaching/coaching career began in Poplar, Mont. where she taught fifth through eighth grade, and coached basketball and track. From Poplar, Farmer moved to Belfry for 10 years where she taught, coached boys and girl's basketball, volleyball and for a time, served as the school’s athletic director.

From Belfry, she moved to Hardin where she still teaches and coaches and continues to impress. Farmer coaches girls basketball and boys and girls cross country. She has coached both teams to numerous state titles.

Farmer has been honored with the Montana Coaches' Association's (MCA) Coach of Year award in both girl’s basketball and girl’s cross country. As of this update (2024) Farmer is still teaching and coaching with no plans to retire.

She was recently inducted into the Montana Western Education Hall of Fame. Farmer is in a very select company of Western grads honored with induction in both the school’s athletic and education hall of fame.
