In 1982, Bennett received a bachelor of science degree in history and physical education from Western. Bennett received second team defensive honors in 1978. In 1980, he was named First Team All-Conference defensive tackle and recipient of the Maier-Miller Student Athlete scholarship. Bennett now lives in Colstrip.
