Wayde Davis, a native of Bigfork, Mont., was a 1979 graduate of Western Montana College with a Bachelor of Science in secondary education.

Davis was a three-time football all-conference selection as an offensive center. He was a two team first team all-district selection, a second team all-district selection and a two time NAIA honorable mention All-American. Davis was a member of the 1977 Frontier Conference championship team.

Davis was active in M-Club and the Industrial Arts club during his Western days. As an industrial arts (I.A.)  student, he was  part of a construction project where a home was built and then auctioned off. The monies raised went to a scholarship, to equipment improvement to the I.A. department and for funds for securing another site for a similar project.

He also drove a school bus for Beaverhead County. After his playing days were done and he was finishing his degree requirements, Davis was a volunteer assistant football coach for the Dillon Beavers.

He began his career as an educator and coach in Stevensville, Mont. Davis’s next stop was Whitefish, Mont. where he taught and was an assistant coach in football, track and wrestling.

Davis, his wife Jana and three year old son Casey died in a school bus-semi-truck accident January 21, 1984. He is the first to be inducted posthumously.
