Tom Hoover, a native of Conrad, Mont., was a 1971 graduate of Western Montana College (WMC). He was a dual sport athlete lettering in football and track and excelling in both.

On the gridiron, Hoover was a versatile player as a wide receiver, defensive back, punter and kick return specialist. He was a member of the undefeated 1969 Frontier Conference championship team and one of the 11 Bulldogs earning first team all-conference honors. Hoover led the league in punting in 1969 and 1970.

In track, Hoover starred in the field events as a long and triple jumper, and occasionally running a leg on the 440 relay team. In 1969, he qualified for the NAIA national meet in the long jump.

During his WMC days, he was an active member of M-Club.
