Bulldog Athletic Hall of Fame
Larry Veis, a native of Scobey, Mont., is a 1966 graduate of Western Montana College with a Bachelor of Science in secondary education in industrial arts and physical education.Â
He was a three-year football letterman for the Bulldogs earning first-team all conference honors his junior and senior seasons. Veis also lettered in baseball for the Bulldogs.He was nicknamed “Granny’ by his teammates.Â
After graduation, his professional career started as a teacher and coach at Granite County High School in Philipsburg, Mont. His 1979 football team were Montana Class C runner-ups. Veis, a player in the 1962 East-West Shrine game, was a coach in the 1980 and 1981 Shrine games.Â
After retirement from coaching he closed out his education career as an administrator where it started, Philipsburg, Mont. Veis passed away on Oct. 24, 2019. He is survived by his wife Ann, daughters Jennifer and Heidi and three grandchildren.
