Bulldog Athletic Hall of Fame
A native of Belt, is a 1994 graduate of Western with a degree in Secondary Education with a emphasis in sports medicine. He received his Masters degree in 2001. During his Bulldog career, Garza earned All-Conference honors as both a kicker and a wide receiver. In 1993, he also earned All-District and second team All-American honors. Also in 1993, Garza was third in the nation in receiving, as he averaged seven catches and 105 yards in receiving yards a game. He set school records in career catches, career receiving yards, most catches in a season, career points scored, most career PAT’s and tied the record for most. His teammates include fellow inductees Dan Olson and Mike Cutler along with Bobby Beers, Randy Kelley, Scott Miller, Van Puckett, Nick Howlett and Jason Truman. His memorable moments also include beating Carroll 49-16 in 1990 and ending their conference winning streak and tying fir the conference championship in 1993. Garza’s coaches included Mick Dennehy, Mick Delaney and Bob Beers. After graduation, he works as an athletic trainer and teacher at Helena High School. He teaches Human Anatomy and basic sports medicine. This past summer, he was married to Jana Romasko.
