Bulldog Athletic Hall of Fame
A multi sport athlete from 1966-69 participating in cross country, track and basketball. Jon set a school record in the two-mile-run and earned All-Conference honors in cross-country. He was a member of the Bulldog track team that won four consecutive Frontier Conference championships. His college teammates included fellow inductees, the Youngquist brothers. As an athlete his most memorable moment was when Western defeated Montana State in a dual track meet. As a fan his most memorable moment was when the Bulldog basketball team defeated the nation’s number one team in the NAIA national tournament in Kansas City. Jon’s teaching and coaching career began in Poplar where he was part of a coaching staff that guided Poplar to back to back state titles. He was the maintenance supervisor for the WMC PE Complex before starting Yeager Construction Company in Dillon. Jon and his wife Pat are the parents of one daughter, Laurie.Â
