Bulldog Athletic Hall of Fame
Walt Anderson, a native of Charlo, Mont., was a four-year basketball letterman. He earned first team all-conference honors in 1948 and 1950. He was selected the Bulldog team captain in 1951.
The Bulldogs won Montana Collegiate Conference (MCC) titles in 1949 and 1950. After the 1949 championship, the Bulldogs advanced to the NAIA tournament in Kansas City, Mo. where they lost to Texas Tech.
In addition to basketball, Anderson also competed in baseball and, track and field. At the 1951 MCC track and field meet, Anderson broke his own conference meet record in the javelin with a throw of 187 feet, 3 inches.
Anderson began his professional journey in Darby, Mont. in 1955. He retired from coaching in 1977 after a distinguished 22-year tenure. Anderson then moved into administration as a high school athletic director and an elementary school  principal.
Anderson was inducted into the Montana Coach’s Hall of Fame in 1997. He passed away July 5, 2013.
