Earned his business degree from UMW in 1998. While playing football for the Bulldogs Taylor was a three-year team captain, a three-time All-Conference athlete, a two-time All-American, an academic All-American and a recipient of the National Football Foundation Montana Chapter Scholar Athlete Award. He was member of the 1994 and 1995 Frontier Conference championship teams and is in the Hall of Fame as a member of the 19994 football team.
After graduating from Montana Western Taylor played three seasons in the Indoor Football League for the Billings Thunderbolts with former members of the University of Montana Grizzlies, the Montana State University Bobcats as well as NFL players.
Taylors’ most memorable moments at UMW include winning the conference championships, playing in national playoff games, being featured on the California Sports Network in slow motion for a big hit, playing Montana Tech in six inches of snow during a frigid night game and beating Tech at his final game at Vigilante field.
Taylor has worked in the insurance industry as a commercial lines producer for Western States Insurance since 2003. In 2010 he purchased his own agency, the Taylor Leavitt Insurance Agency. He and his 15 employees offer a wide array of insurance services to clients across the Northwest.
Mike and his wife Robin live in Billings with their son, Royce (2).
