Montana Western, University of

Glen Harper, a native of Roundup, Mont., is a 1961 graduate of Western Montana College (WMC) with a Bachelor Science in secondary education.

After graduating from Roundup High School, he worked a bit in the oil fields of eastern Montana before being drafted into the U.S. Army and serving in Germany. While in Germany, he stayed in shape as a member of the Army football team.

After his discharge from the army, Harper enrolled at Western on the G.I. Bill and a scholarship. Harper was a four year football letterman and a three-time all-conference selection as an offensive tackle and a defensive end.

He had a long and productive career as a teacher and coach at both Hellgate and Big Sky High Schools in Missoula, Mont. Harper taught physical education, small engines, and woodworking and drafting.

He passed away December 22, 2023.
