Engellant a native of Geraldine, Mont., is 1991 graduate of Western earning a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education. He has a Masters in Education and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction with an instructional technology emphasis from the University of Montana. 

During his Bulldog career under Hall of Fame Coach Casey Keltz, Kevin scored 1,423 career points and pulled down 550 career rebounds. He averaged 16 points and six rebounds per game through his four-year career. 

Engellant earned all-conference and all-district honors. From the classroom, he was a four-time academic all-conference selection. During his career, the Bulldogs won one regular season Frontier Conference title, two tournament titles and one district title. 

One of his most memorable collegiate moments came in the 1988-89 season when Western advanced to the national NAIA Division I tournament where they upset Grand Canyon, the defending national champs and the nation’s number one team. 

His teammates included Jeff Elliott, Brian Henderson, Roger Fuchs, Mike Vanderzanden, Shawn Smith, Scott Ferguson, Dave Cornelia and Hall of Famers Mark Durham and John Sullivan. 

After graduation, Engellant taught and coached at Dillon’s Beaverhead County High School. In 1995, he coached Dillon to the Class A State Championship and was named Class A Coach of the Year. 

That same year, he returned to Western as the head women’s basketball coach. His 13-year career at the helm of the Bulldogs resulted in an overall record of 239-139. 

He guided the Bulldogs to three regular season titles, four Frontier Conference Tournament titles and eight straight appearances at the NAIA National Tournament. 

He was selected Frontier Conference Coach of the Year three times and once as the Women's Basketball Coach's Association regional coach of the year.  Engellant retired from coaching in 2009. He is now a business professor at Montana Western.

He and his wife Roxanne are the parents of three children J.T. (Emily), Courtney and Kyler, and two grandchildren (Madison and Kale).
