Stanley Johnston earned a Bachelor
of Science in Physical Education with an
emphasis in sports medicine from Western
Montana College in 1981. He went on to
earn his master’s degree in sports medicine
from Montana State University in 1985.
He was an active member of the WMC
Athletic Training Student Association
during his time at Montana Western
and a leader among his peers.
Stanley worked with the Los Angeles
Dodgers organization from 1985-2007 as
an athletic trainer. He was chosen as the
1994 PBATS (Professional Baseball Athletic
Trainers Society) Minor League Athletic
Trainer of the Year and received the PBATS
20 Year Service Award in 2005. In 2006, he
was one of the National League athletic
trainers for the All-Star Baseball Game.
Johnston is the only WMC sports medicine
graduate to have worked for a Major
League sports organization.
Currently, he is the head athletic trainer
at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
in Prescott, Arizona. He and his wife, Tawni,
have four children.
