Bulldog Athletic Hall of Fame
Western’s first National Champion wrestler when he captured a national title at the NAIA Wrestling Championships in 1988. During the championship season, he recorded first place finishes at the North Idaho College Takedown Tournament, the Boise State Invitational, the Northwest Community College Tournament, the Dickinson State Wrestling Classic, and the Oregon Wrestling Classic. Humphrey was selected the Most Valuable Wrestler at the Eastern Washington University Dual Team Tournament. At the NAIA tournament, he out-scored his opponents 67-10 and won the National Championship match with a 14-0 decision. He was also selected the most valuable wrestler for Western’s 1987-88 team. Humphrey was a finalist in 1988 for the Little Sullivan Award. He is currently a Fisheries Technician for the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. He and his wife Samantha live in Boulder. Humphrey is the wrestling coach at Jefferson High School.
