Mitch Makris, a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, is a 1962 graduate of Western Montana College (WMC) with a Bachelor of Science in secondary education. He transferred to Western from Westminster College in Salt Lake City.

Makris was a two-way threat for the Bulldogs on the offensive and defensive line. He was a two time first team all-conference selection. 

Makris played on the 1961 Montana Collegiate Conference (MCC) championship team. 

The Bulldogs were undefeated in conference play and only gave up seven points in MCC play.

After graduation, Makris taught and coached in Dillon, Mont. and Price, Utah. He left education to work for the Bureau of Reclamation as a residential and recreational supervisor. 

Makris later accepted a position in the Department of Labor as project manager for Job Corps centers in five states.

He relocated to Evanston, Wyoming and opened Mickey’s Hamburger Stand. When he retired, his hobby was antiquing throughout the country. 

He passed away March 31, 2016.
