Mike Maroney, a native of Butte, Mont., is a 1981 graduate of Western Montana College (WMC)  with a Bachelor of Science in secondary education.

Maroney was a four-year football letterman for the Bulldogs. He was a three-time all-conference selection as a defensive back, earning second team honors twice and first team honors once.

One all-conference announcement noted that the Butte native “offset his small stature with rugged, all-out play against heavier foes.” In addition to classes and football, he was active in M-Club and intramural.

After graduation, Maroney taught and coached in Whitefish, Mont. and Glendive, Mont. He left education for a career in the insurance industry.

He joined his uncle Dick Maroney, a 1985 inductee, in the Bulldog Hall of Fame.
