Pat Delger, a native of Townsend, Mont., is a 1964 graduate of Western Montana College (WMC) with a Bachelor of Science in secondary education.

He was a four year football letterman for the Bulldogs and was a two time all-conference selection. He earned honorable mention honors as an offensive lineman after his junior season and first team honors after his senior season. He played linebacker on defense.

Delger played on the 1961 and the 1962 Montana Collegiate Conference championship football teams. He is also is an offensive lineman with a touchdown to his credit. In a game against the Montana State freshman, he picked up a fumble on the one-yard line and ran into the end zone for a Bulldog touchdown.

Delger was active on campus in M-Club as secretary-treasurer and vice-president. He also performed in the Gargoyles production of “Lil’ Abner.” He was a graduate assistant for football and was head junior varsity basketball coach. His leadership qualities were further emphasized when he was appointed superintendent of the boy’s dorm.

After graduation, Delger began his education career at Park County High School in Livingston, Mont. as a teacher and head football coach. He later taught and coached at St.Helena, Calif.

He returned to Townsend, Montana where he owned and operated the Deep Creek Restaurant outside of Townsend. He retired and spent several years in Panama before moving back to Montana.

He passed away July 22, 2020.
