His school record of 48-feet, six inches still stands. Souhrada was two time conference and district champion in the triple jump and represented WMC at the NAIA national meet.

He began his teaching and coaching career at Ronan, Mont. where he taught math and P.E. He moved from Ronan to Big Fork, Mont. where he taught and coached both boy’s and girl’s basketball.

Souhrada’s next stop was Poison, Mont. where he taught and coached for eight years. He was the head girl’s coach for five years.

Souhrada was selected to participate in the SIMMS (Systemic Initiative for Montana Mathematics and Science) Project at the University of Montana. He was co-chair and the project wrote high school math textbooks for freshmen through seniors. Souhrada was also an adjunct math instructor at the university.

While at SKC, Souhrada was an assistant coach for girl’s basketball at Polson High School. In 2021, he was the Montana Class A assistant coach of the Year.

During the five year run of the hit drama series Numb3rs, Souhrada was one of nine mathematics instructors across the country that developed a series of math activities students could do after each episode of the series.

Souhrada is now retired from teaching and coaching but he hasn’t slowed down. He plays competitive basketball in the Federation of Master’s Basketball Association league. It’s basically age group basketball.

Souhrada has a world championship under his belt along with a Pan Am championship, European championship and a national championship.

When not hooping it up across the globe, Souhrada spends his time with friends and family.
