Bulldog Athletic Hall of Fame
Dale Combs is a native of Dillon, Mont. and a 1966 graduate of Western Montana College (WMC) with a Bachelor of Science in secondary education.Â
From 1962 through ’65, Combs started every game for the Bulldogs, alternating between offensive and defensive guard. He was a three-time all-conference selection, and has the rare distinction of earning all-conference honors at two different positions in the same season, and he accomplished that feat twice.
He anchored the WMC line in an undefeated, untied season in ’63 and was a co-captain in both junior and senior years.Â
Before his retirement from officiating, Combs was ranked among the state’s finest wrestling officials. He worked state tournaments, Big Sky championships, regional junior college meets, and was the first Montana official ever chosen for an NCAA Division I championship.Â
Combs and his wife Milann reside in Wise River, Mont.
