Bob Howard, a native of Browning, Mont., is a 1953 graduate of Western Montana College. A four-year letterman began his Bulldog career in January of 1947 at the start of the conference schedule.

He quickly made his presence felt and was named a second team all-conference selection. Howard led the team in scoring the following season and earned his second straight all-conference selection.

Howard left school at the end of the year to complete his military service. He returned to Western for the 1951-52 season. The following season, Howard closed his Bulldog career the way he began with an all-conference. And, he achieved the recognition, despite an injury plagued senior season.

After graduation, he taught, coached and was principal of the Browning schools at Browning, Montana. He later served as treasurer of the Blackfoot Nation. In 1971, he was appointed the Director of the Indian Division of the Office of Economic Opportunity. He passed away in 1974.
