George Aitken came to the Montana State Normal College (MSNC) from Glasgow, Montana. His high school coach was Bill Straugh, now in his first year as head coach of the Bulldogs.

He was a two-time first team all-conference selection. In his freshman season, the Bulldogs won the conference basketball title. The Bulldogs received and accepted an invitation to represent the Montana-Wyoming District at the National Intercollegiate Basketball Tournament (now NAIA) in Kansas City, Mo. The Bulldogs lost to the eventual national champs, San Diego State College 42-29.

In addition to the championship trophy and the trip to Kansas City, the 1940-41 season was highlighted by a 46-37 win over Montana State College (now Montana State University). George and his brother Dave tied for game-scoring honors with 12 points each.

George led the Bulldogs in scoring after the 41-42 season with 290 points. Despite finishing second to Carroll, but MSNC received an invitation to Kansas City instead of the Saints. The Bulldogs were unable to attend due to financial restraints.

He was a multi-sport athlete in both seasons as a Bulldog, competing and winning letters in basketball, baseball, football, and track and field.

At the end of 1942 season Aitken enlisted in the Army Air Corps. After his discharge, he worked for the construction branch of the U.S Atomic Energy Commission. He retired in 1972.
