Bulldog Athletic Hall of Fame
Mike Murphy, a native of Harlowtown, Mont., is a 1961 graduate of Western Montana College with a Bachelor of Science in secondary education. He later added a Master in Education.
Murphy was a three-year football letterman for the Bulldogs. He was an all-conference selection twice; one, second team selection and one, first team selection. During the 1959 season, he averaged 102 yards per game and was nominated to the NAIA All-American team.
He was also active on campus in M-Club and in the Rodeo Club.
His career in education began in Hinsdale, Mont. followed by stops in Chester and Helena, Mont. He served as assistant principal at Capital High School in Helena.
He passed away March 17, 2014.
